Tim Burson, M.D.

Dr. Burson earned his medical degree and completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He concluded a one year fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis and served as Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Arkansas Children's Hospital for 4 ½ years. He has been board certified in neurosurgery since 2004. Since joining the Baptist system in 2004, he has served on multiple committees regarding professional practice and improving patient outcomes. Dr. Burson has also been recognized as one of Arkansas's Best Doctors in Neurosurgery numerous times by his professional peers.


Dr Burson's practice covers comprehensive neurosurgical pathologies with much of his time devoted to spinal surgery which includes but is not limited to:


  • degenerative disc disease and disc herniation
  • lumbar spinal fusions with instrumentation
  • tumors of the spinal cord and vertebrae
  • minimally invasive spine surgery
  • cervical spine fusion and athroplasty
  • brain and spine trauma


He has special interests in:


  • Neuro-oncology
  • Primary and metastatic brain tumors
  • Primary and secondary tumors of the spinal cord
  • Pediatric neurosurgery


Teamwork is important to any medical practice. Dr. Burson's team includes Brooke Grice, RN and Hope Yielding, LPN. Brooke's primary responsibilities include seeing patients in the hospital, coordinating surgeries, providing peri-operative patient education regarding surgical procedures, and assisting in the clinic. Hope primarily works in the clinic and coordinates outpatient procedures, new referrals, and review of test results. She is also available to answer questions or other concerns patients may have.


Dr. Burson is active outside of work with his family and church. His hobbies include hiking and camping along with hunting and cycling. Dr. Burson is a member of American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), the Congress of Neurologic Surgeons, and the Arkansas Medical Society.
